Surely Not Me Lord? Do you believe that the bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and written as God's message to His own elect? If your answer is yes, then, read this article. Hopefully I would not be the only one who after reading the following verses felt my heart burning in me causing me to ask of the Lord, surely not me Lord? After knowing what I know, how could I be one of the ones you are talking about and do this vile thing? Please help Jesus! Hebrews 10:26-29 states that if we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of Grace? Hebrews 6:4-6 and 2 Peter 2:1-22 also declare the fate of false prophets, false teachers and saints who turned away from Christ and brought the way of truth into disgrace. If God can say in Hebrews 10:38 “But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” Is there a possibility that the elect can shrink back? We found the key word in the first few words of Hebrews 10:26, it says “if we deliberately keep on sinning…” Has anyone been deliberately sinning? If yes, the warnings are for you. If you don't think that you have been deliberately sinning, take hope. If like me you fall here and there whether in omission and action but have the knowledge that you can always run to the throne of grace in order to receive mercy in your time of need, be fearless. Know that the Lord is Holy and desire truth in our innermost parts (Psalm 51:6). Although He has removed our sins as far as the East is from the West, He still expects us to live a life worthy of His name and be obedient to His callings in our lives (2 Peter 3:11). John 3:6 states that no one who lives in Jesus keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. But Glory to God! Hallelujah! 1 John 2:1 also says that if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our Defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. Are you that anybody? We are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9). Although we are free and there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, we should not use our freedom as a cover up for evil. We want to live our lives so that God may be praised through Jesus Christ. It is done by following 1 John 1:8, “if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” You can see that if you are in Him you only need to confess your sins. To me confess my sins means that I acknowledge to God that I have done something contrary to His way. I am telling Jesus with a sincere heart how sorry I am to let Him down, and that I need His help to change and move on. I always get the assurance and know that He has forgiven me. The following exhortation is for all, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay” (Hebrews 10:35-38). Again, as children of God we are commanded to confess our sins when we fall, persevere and never lose hope. Are you doing it? Blessed are those who hear the Word of God and obey it!
